Welcome to the Whistle Stop!
Located immediately adjacent to an active Norfolk-Southern freight line in the historic Ferguson Train Depot, the Whistle Stop has become a favorite spot for frozen custard, Italian sandwiches and train watching. As many as 20 freight trains rumble past the Whistle Stop each day providing visitors the opportunity to experience, up close, the awesome power of a modern diesel engine while enjoying their favorite frozen custard treat.
Regular flavors include creamy vanilla, rich chocolate and "lite." The menu features the Whistle Stop's specialties: fresh baked waffle cones, the Fast Track, Cannonball and Smokestack sundaes, just to name a few. In addition, the Whistle Stop features a special flavor each day. Favorites include Cherry Bon Bon, Chocolate Almond Fudge, Coconut Cream Pie, Pistachio and Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake.
Hungry for more than ice cream? The Whistle Stop features fresh baked panini sandwiches, toasted ravioli, white chicken chili and a soup of the day. The Whistle Stop's paninis made with fresh ingredients are served on fresh ciabatta bread from Fazio's bakery on "The Hill." For the health conscious, we have filling wraps stuffed with crisp green lettuce, juicy tomatoes and your choice of turkey, ham, chicken or a real crowd pleaser, the BLT. Perfect for lunch or dinner, Whistle Stop sandwiches are a welcome change from the ordinary.
